What is a simple wick for orchids?

Wick watering is a method of watering that you can use for orchids. A wick of fabric (e.g. shoelaces or twine) draws up water from a reservoir as a simple form of automatic watering. Because the wick doesn’t draw lots of water, it shouldn’t result in root rot, but orchids do like the occasional soak so they may not draw enough.
