What are the green shoots on orchids?

The green shoots on an orchid’s stem are new flower stalks. They will gradually grow larger and turn into a flower spike. The stem is the part of the orchid that the leaves spring from, and flower spikes and roots grow out of it, while leaves grow out of the top.
