Is charcoal good for orchids?

Yes, charcoal is good for orchids! The charcoal helps to keep the potting mix well-drained and also provides a source of carbon for the plant. Some people even use it as the entirety of the potting mix and report good results. That being said, it can be messy and is not necessary if you have a good potting mix already.
