How do I protect my orchid from root rot?

Root rot is caused by too much water, so the best way to protect your orchid from it is to make sure you’re not overwatering it. Allow the potting mix to dry out between waterings; water your orchid when the potting mix feels dry to the touch and the roots inside its pot have turned silvery. If your orchid’s inner pot doesn’t have drainage, then it will almost certainly develop root rot eventually.
