Can you grow orchids in the ground?

No, you shouldn’t try to grow orchids in the ground because they are epiphytic plants. This means that they grow on other plants or trees and get their nutrients from the air, water, and organic matter around them. Wild phalaenopsis orchids, for example, draw on the moss they find on tree bark for water.
