Will orchids grow new stems?
Yes, orchids do grow new flower spikes. You can encourage this growth by fertilizing them with a balanced orchid fertilizer when you water during spring and summer. New spikes poke out from the stem and are bright, light green at first before getting longer. You can trim off the old flower spike if it’s completely brown and hasn’t re-bloomed, although orchids will also often grow new stems from old flower spikes.
