Why have my orchid leaves split?

Orchid leaves can split for a variety of reasons, including excessive light, water stress, or fertilizer burn. The most common reason, though, is physical stress/damage. If the leaves are only slightly split, this is not necessarily a problem and will not affect the plant’s health. A good rule of thumb is that if the leaves are still a healthy green, it’s not a problem.
