How many leaves should an orchid have?

Four, five, six or so is a normal number. But it’s also normal for an orchid to lose a leaf or two every now and then, but if it’s losing leaves rapidly, that’s a sign that something is wrong. Usually, the problem is either too much or too little water, but it could also be a lack of light or a nutrient deficiency. If the orchid’s leaves are green and firm, and it has lots of roots, then it doesn’t matter how many leaves it has.
