How do orchids have babies?

Orchids reproduce by growing new plants from their stems or from old flower spikes. When a new plant (keiki) grows, it will be attached to the original plant or its flower spike by a thin stem. You can either pot up the new plant and let it grow on its own, or cut the stem and replant the baby orchid in its own pot. Orchids also grow from seed, although making this happen is much harder than making babies the way described above.
