Can orchids recover from overwatering?

Yes, but it’s not easy. If your orchid has been overwatered and the roots are soft, mushy and brown/black, you need to trim them up to a healthy point. Then, repot your orchid in a smaller amount of potting mix, and be careful not to give it too much water again. Some of your orchid’s leaves may wrinkle and die at this point, which happens because your orchid doesn’t have enough roots to support all of its leaves; after this, though, it may find equilibrium and recover.
